Postcards from Glasgow
Last week, we received some hate mail. Someone called Radical Zomi (aka Chink King) wrote in to say:
What ever your intention is with the Lyrics(Chainese Item/maal) u fucking racist. U can’t never be another Salman Rushdie or Dan Brown. Why don’t u come out clean and change the name to Chinky Maal. I wish these [...]
Aight people,
What a weekend this has been. Woke up friday still reeling from the performance at the 13th note. Unfortunately, these boys are still stuck in the Indian clock and wake up atleast 10 hours earlier than I do! Shucks! Anyways, late night jam sessions, wine, scotch, beer, guinness and diesels, south Indian cuisine, and [...]
Pics from the TAAQ gig at the Barfly are up on our website.
Right, I shall shut up here! The Glasgow Video Diaries. Mad Jam’s from twilight to dusk, if one exists here!
More to follow.

Seldom been more happy with a TAAQ gig. This has to be one of our best gigs to date – and not because there were ten thousand people in the crowd – there were perhaps 50. Not because we made a lot of money. I thought it was great that we really really connected with [...]
‘we rocked it bigtime tonight bro spanked the empire silly’
Rajeev’s text came in early this morning as I boarded the space(d) shuttle to work. Over chat, he later told me the gig at The 13th Note was really special. He, Rzu and David are lodged at Guru’s pad, while Bruce and Tony have [...]
What a gig this was. I think, all the hardwork, sleepless nights getting here, the mad flight connections, taxi’s, luggage and gear and hundereds of worries has been washed away with this one gig!
Supported by the really amazing Icelandic Instrumental band call The Attack of the Penguins, I loved this band. I think I’ll make [...]
First gig in Glasgow.
Walked from Guru’s apartment to the Barfly, on the banks of the Clyde. Bloody cold. Tee, sweatshirt, thick jacket and my hands are still frozen. Can’t feel the old nose and it’s real fun when you try and say ‘blubber’. The old city is charming. Soot-crusted ‘rebuilt in 1886′ etched in brown stone. [...]
Awesome gig awesome gig awesome gig. Got lost, ate some “illegal” burger, life’s good!

TAAQ landed safely and are currently in good spirits, or so I hear! They are “Freezing their b***s off,” I hear. Common, it’s the summer!- anyways, case closed, they don’t want to believe!
Bruce is down with a sniffle. A drink or two should set him straight, but errrrmmmm, its Meeestah Bruze. The last time, it [...]

Ten years ago, there was no direct flight from Bangalore to London. I’m not even sure if there was a direct flight to Colombo. I’m pretty sure there wasn’t. We were second-rate citizens then, you see. Our not-yet-metro Bengaluru was still bickering over auto-rickshaw fares. Today, we are debating whether or not to have a [...]
IT JUST DID!!!!!! We’re off boys and girls! We’ll be sure to send you a postcard!
Thank you everything and everybody for all of whatever you’ve done.
YESSSSSSSSSSsssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sigh.
Tomorrow. Tomorrow we shall know. I think. I hope.
For those of you who can’t stand the suspense (and are completely useless code breakers to boot) go to myspace.com/thermalandaquarter. And don’t tell EVERYBODY and their uncles and aunties just yet. Wait till the day after tomorrow.
Walk in, and you can smell the sweat of the bovinely patient folk waiting to get things done. You’ll see the resigned, bored faces, the slouched shoulders and the wide, glazed eyes. You’ll somehow feel that gravity is pulling her apron strings a little tighter here, while little stick figures of men cling on by [...]
A whole month of rehearsal is on. We’ve got 30 songs to play. 30 songs we’ve played before, for sure, but 30 songs we’ve got to play like we’ve never played before. There’s something about the good honest smelly sweat of a three-hour jam in a stuffy, padded room that is invigorating. Or is that [...]
Yes, yes, there has been the long silence. But of course, we are all busy and all tied up with various things and the rest of the usual excuses, including excessive soporific heat, binging on ice cream, the price of booze in begumpet, the altered mating habits of the blue-throated Madagascar warbler and so forth.
Ta [...]
